Domestically Acquired Cyclosporiasis Cases in Multiple U.S. States

 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is notifying clinicians, public health practitioners, and laboratorians of cases of domestically acquired cyclosporiasis in multiple U.S. states. Since May 1, 2026, CDC has received reports of 1,645 confirmed domestic cases of cyclosporiasis and is aware of more than 5,100 cases that require further analysis to confirm the illness as domestically acquired cyclosporiasis.

Health Update: Measles Resources

 

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) has confirmed a total of 5 cases of measles in 2026. They continue to work on developing resources for healthcare providers in response to increases in measles cases nationwide.

The new data from Fortified paints a picture of a healthcare industry struggling to combat ransomware attacks and other security compromises. 

Ebola is Spreading Faster in Eastern Congo Than It Can be Tracked, as Deaths Pass 700

 

Eighty percent of new Ebola cases in eastern Congo are emerging from unknown chains of transmission, the World Health Organization said, a sign the outbreak is spreading faster than health officials can track despite an expanding response. Congo has been battling an outbreak of a rare type of Ebola since May, with no approved treatment or vaccine.

FEMA Approves Additional $37 Million for Georgia Recovery

 

FEMA approved an additional $36.6 million to support disaster recovery in Georgia. Most of this funding comes from FEMA’s Public Assistance program, which has already provided $1.5 billion to help Georgia recover and rebuild after Hurricane Helene. The Public Assistance program provides funds for state and local government response and recovery work at no less than a 75% federal cost share.
