Health Update: Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM) in Georgia

 

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) urges healthcare providers to strongly consider acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) in patients with sudden flaccid limb weakness, especially 1-2 weeks after respiratory or gastrointestinal illness with fever.

Hospitals Scramble to Fix Major Oracle Vulnerability

 

The American Hospital Association and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are urging hospitals and health systems that are Oracle customers to “immediately” fix a security flaw that cybercriminals are likely already leveraging to hack into networks. The security gap in the Oracle E-Business Suite enterprise resource planning system allows remote access to the program without a username or password.

Georgia Tech’s Drone First Responder Program Cuts Emergency Response Time to 90 Seconds or Less

 

Georgia Tech has launched a groundbreaking program that will use drones as first responders to 911 calls. The program aims to improve response times and enhance student safety by deploying drones that can reach incidents faster than traditional police methods. Drones are already being utilized by more than 20 law enforcement departments across Georgia, helping with pursuits and catching shoplifters.

Twin Marquis LLC Voluntarily Recalls Twin Marquis® Thick Shanghai Style Plain Noodle Packages Due to Undeclared Egg

 

Twin Marquis LLC is voluntarily recalling one production date of individually wrapped Twin Marquis® Thick Shanghai Style Plain Noodle packages due to possible undeclared egg allergen. The affected packages of Shanghai Style noodles, which do not list egg as an ingredient, may mistakenly contain Lo Mein noodles, which are made with egg. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.

Trividia Health, Inc. Initiates Voluntary Recall of Limited Number of TRUE METRIX® Blood Glucose Meters

 

Trividia Health, Inc. initiated a voluntary recall of a limited number of TRUE METRIX® Self-Monitoring Blood glucose meters co-branded under the Good Neighbor Pharmacy® brand and distributed in the United States. The company has determined that 601 TRUE METRIX® Meters, lot number KD0746, manufactured Sept. 4 and distributed Sept. 8 through Sept. 16, may have the potential for defective LCD displays that can affect product performance.

Sno Pac Foods is recalling Del Mar 35 lb. bulk Organic Frozen Spinach and Sno Pac 10 oz. Organic Frozen Cut Spinach because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious or sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Violent Actors and Cyber Criminals Threaten Emergency Services Sector

The Office of Intelligence and Analysis sent an assessment of threats to the Emergency Services Sector— police, firefighters, and other first responders— from violent extremists, other physical threat actors, or malicious cyber actors.
